It is less than two weeks since the people of Ballintubber organised what turned out to be a truly memorable occasion with their first ever St. Patrick’s Day parade, and here we are two weeks on and they are at it again.
This time though it is not a parade they are organising but a fundraiser for four local community clubs. This Saturday the 10th April they will be running what can only be described as a full day of joy fun and merriment as they host their third Aintree Grand National Fundraiser in Smokey Joes at the rear of Garvey’s pub.
For anyone interested in having a full day of craic and entertainment this like many other days in Ballintubber will be a day to not miss. In previous years this has always attracted a good crowd and the committee are expecting more of the same this year.
The day commences at 12.30 with a champagne punch reception followed by a three-course meal with wine. There will be big screen racing live from Aintree with the highlight obviously being the Grand National, there will even be tipsters on the day to mark your card and a host of other activities such as ‘best dressed lady competition’.
As the racing finishes, the music will start and the day will finish off with music and dancing to the Phoenix Showband.
If that isn’t enough there will also be a disco till late. This will be a full day of entertainment and at only €40 per ticket represents excellent value for the day.
All proceeds from the event will be distributed between four local clubs, namely: St Croan’s GAA, Ballymoe FC, Manor FC and Ballintubber Tidy Towns. If you want an enjoyable day of craic and entertainment, you won’t find anything better than this for next Saturday.
