Death of well-known town blacksmith

The death took place last week at his home, of Stephen Croghan of St Ciaran’s Park, Roscommon Town. Mr Croghan was one of the best-known personalities in the town over many decades and was well known as a blacksmith in Goff Street for many years. He was a keen follower of sport and horse racing in particular.

Large crowds attended his removal, funeral Mass and burial, which took place last Tuesday and Wednesday. Stephen Croghan is survived by his wife Mary, sons Patrick, Derek and Conan and daughters Maria and Eileen grandchildren, relatives and friends. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
