All roads lead to the Shamrock Lodge Hotel in Athlone on Friday night 9th April where the Drum Heritage Committee has plans to hold their Annual Table Quiz, commencing at 8.30 pm sharp.
Notwithstanding the economic pressure of the present time, the committee’s large injection of prize monies to the table winners is sure to attract the cream of scholars from all parts of the Midlands. Due to the generous patronage of Mr Eamonn Gleeson of Gleeson’s Townhouse and Restaurant, Roscommon, each of the four top table winners will receive a meal voucher valued at €30. Other prizewinners extending down to four placing will also receive increased prizes either in cash or in kind.
The monster draw which follows, offers a huge array of different prizes that include complimentary golfing green fees, hotel meal vouchers, bottles of spirits, hairdos, manicure sets and tools galore. In the past almost every competing table carried away a prize worth anything from €10 to €50.
Questions for the table quiz have been set by local man, Tommy Harney, who in the past was himself a National Champion in the sport. He will also act as Quiz Master on the night.Tables of four remain €20, singles also welcome.
A cup of tea for everyone will be provided at the close of the night’s entertainment. All local organisations in the parish have been invited to support the event.
