Cavan-born novelist, playwright and performer Michael Harding, whose unique voice and lively artistic appreciation have become familiar to us over recent years, will revisit Roscommon town on Friday 16th April to open the Ros Art 93 exhibition entitled ‘Rising Sap’ in the Abbey Hotel at 8 pm.
He performed this task once before ten years ago after a period he spent as writer in residence in Roscommon. He was so impressed with Ros Art 93’s work that he has agreed to break his busy schedule of touring with his play ‘The Tinker’s Curse’ to open the show.
The artists known as Ros Art 93, most of whom hold degrees in art and design, concentrate continually on deepening their understanding, creativity and technique, a pursuit that has led them to such diverse destinations as a residence in The Tyrone Guthrie Centre in Monaghan and a cultural visit to Berlin as well as a successful graphic exhibition in The Roscommon Arts Centre in December.
‘Rising Sap’ will be imbued with colour, light and vitality, featuring work in oil, acrylic, pastel, collage, ink and photography. It will comprise pieces to please both modern and traditional tastes and at surprisingly affordable prices!
No one should miss this opportunity to see some beautiful and striking work in a highly enjoyable sociable venue and to meet the national treasure that is Michael Harding at 8 pm, 16th April, in the Fortfield Suite in the Abbey Hotel, Roscommon. Exhibition continues Saturday and Sunday. Admission free. All welcome.
