Competitive action gets underway on Sunday next when the Feelystone team start their Tansey Cup campaign with a home game against Oran. See fixtures for details. The McGovern Directional Drilling team is in preparation for the commencement of their O’Rourke Cup campaign on 28th February. The minor league will commence on 21st February while the U16 league will commence on 28th February and both of those teams are being prepared. Senior Scór is about to commence and those interested in participating should contact Martin Dolan at 086 2413529 immediately. Plans are well advanced for the opening of the new clubrooms circa 1st May. An exciting programme of events to mark the occasion are currently being prepared. Fundraising to defray the cost of the facilities is ongoing. The club will hold a monster bowling night in Carrick-on-Shannon on Saturday evening 6th March. The presentation night for the senior men’s 2009 county champions and the ladies 2009 County Junior champions takes place in River Island on Saturday 6th March. Tickets are €30 each and can be purchased from Barry O’Regan, Dermot Lyons, Jason O’Reilly, Evelyn Flynn or Sharon Ryan. Special guest on the night is Kerry great Dara O’Se and The Tree Tops will supply music.
CLANN NA NGAEL
The Clann na nGael Social will take place in the Athlone Springs on Friday night. There will be an all-star line up on the night. Brendan Shine will provide the entertainment, and Micheal O’Muircheartaigh is the special guest. That’s not all, the play ‘From Little Acorns’ will take to the stage. At the moment the tickets are moving briskly and with a limited amount of tickets it is important to get your hands on the hottest ticket in the country on that night. The new football season starts next Sunday when Kilbride play Castlerea in the first round of the Tansey Cup at 2.30 in Kilbride. All players to be in the dressing room at 1.45.

Our Annual Social will be held in The Hyde Centre on Saturday 13th March, commencing at 9.30 pm. Admission is €25 with €20 for minors. Music will be provided by the new Tree Tops. Presentations will be made on the night to our minor football team who won the County Minor Championship and to our senior footballers who won the O’Gara Cup. The inaugural St Barrys Rose competition was held on Saturday night last in Keenan’s. Michelle Ball representing Keenan’s Bar & Restaurant was the eventual winner. She will now represent St Barrys in the Roscommon Ladies GAA Rose Competition.

The Scor Sinsear county semi-finals take place on Friday, 26th February, and Sunday, 28th February. St Dominics have appointed a new senior football manager for the coming year. He is Darren Owens who is currently manager of the Garda Sigerson Cup team. He takes up the position this Friday 12th February. His selectors are expected to be announced on Friday night.

Henry Brennan Memorial Touranment: The club had a very enjoyable tournament game on Saturday evening last. The tournament was in memory of the late Henry Brennan, a founder member of the club. Teams were captained by David Gibbons and David Hughes. Padraig Brennan on behalf of the Brennan family presented the Henry Brennan Memorial Cup to the winning captain David Gibbons and Larry Brennan presented vouchers sponsored by ‘Down the Hatch’ to the winning team. Refreshments were provided by Paddy Finn’s pub, Kilteevan. Our thanks to Jimmy Reilly for refereeing the game. The club wish to thank John Gilleran of Gilleran Plumbing and Heating for the repairs carried out to the dressing rooms. Thanks to Peter Gilleran for electrical work carried out on the same premises.

The Club Presentation to all underage teams from Under 12 to Minor level will take on this Friday night at 7 pm sharp in the Angling Centre, Athleague. There will also be registration on the night so all parents of the underage players are requested to come along to sign the registration forms. The early start is due to presentations later in the evening for club members who are also members of the county’s Ladies football panels in Roscommon. All members and their parents are requested to come along. Presentations will also be made on the night to the Club Player of the Year for all age levels.
Club AGM is on this Saturday night, 13th February, 2010 at 9 pm in Fuerty Hall. All members, especially senior members, are requested to attend.

Presentation of county championship medals are being made on the night to the following teams; Minor - 2008, U16 - 2008 & 2009, U14 2009. The camogie club AGM was postponed until Saturday 20th February as a mark of respect to the late Niall Coyle. The club offers its deepest sympathies to the Coyle family on their sad loss.
