St Dominics hurling lost one of its most loyal supporters last week with the death of Patrick (Padden) Connaughton, who was in his 92nd year. Padden had a keen interest in all sports but especially hurling and rarely missed a Hurling Championship match over the past 35 years or so. His son-in-law Tom Fallon starred for many years for Four Roads, and in later years he had the pleasure of seeing his grandchildren star for both Dominics and Oran. Padden was always there to support in victory and defeat and always had the word of praise and encouragement for all players. Athleague will not be the same on championship days without Padden but no doubt he will be looking down with pride on St Dominics and inspiring our players back to the glory Days. May his soul rest in peace.
