Water problems in Scramogue and Rooskey

Strokestown area councillor Eugene Murphy has indicated this week that there are some shortcomings in the North East Roscommon Water Supply Scheme that need to be tackled as a matter of urgency.

He referred to some problems in the Scramogue, Rooskey and Curraghroe areas that surfaced during the recent cold spell, although he acknowledged there are some ongoing difficulties with the said areas for some time. Cllr Murphy this week paid tribute to staff of Roscommon County Council water section who worked all over Christmas, including Christmas Day, to try and alleviate difficulties for the general public.

Cllr. Murphy also acknowledged that turning off water at night in the Strokestown Electoral Area was not an ideal situation but Roscommon County Council had simply no other option and in the circumstances they did a good job. Cllr. Murphy, who dealt with water shortage issues in the Druminardley area of Rooskey and Rooskey village, Scramogue area and Curraghroe area, hopes that any difficulty with supplies will be fully addressed hopefully when the upgrading of the North Eastern Water Supply Scheme is carried out.
