Three projects praised at Young Scientist exhibition

Three groups of students from schools in County Roscommon were among the winners at the recent BT Young Scientist in Dublin last week.

A group of intermediate students from Scoil Muire gan Smál in Roscommon took second prize in the intermediate category for their project entitled ‘A comparative study on the sharpness of memory and the quickness of reflexes between the genders’. The students involved were Laura Neilan, Kate Liddy Cormican and Joanne Devaney.

A group of students from Elphin Community College were highly commended for their project entitled ‘The influence of gender stereotyping on subject choice in County Roscommon’. The students involved were Siobhan Lee, Aidan Murray and Austin Kielty.

A group of junior cycle students from Scoil Muire gan Smál in Roscommon were highly commended for their project entitled ‘Cyber confidence’. The group consisted of Emma McStay, Niamh Madden and Shauna Mulry. A total of 38 students from Scoil Muire gan Smál travelled to the exhibition in Dublin.
