Harry Keegan would be on anyone’s dream team, John Scally told guests on Friday night as he introduced Harry. “If Harry was from Kerry he would have eight All Ireland medals and nine All Stars. One of the greatest corner backs of them all,” he said.
Harry Keegan, accepting his award remembered Jimmy Murray always being around at championship time when he was playing. “He used to come into the dressing room before the matches and it was always great to see him. He was an inspiration to all of us,” he said.
Harry regretted that Roscommon has never won that elusive senior All Ireland title and fondly remembered the great Roscommon team from 1972 to 1980. When asked to name the greatest footballer he ever saw he said Jack O’Shea without hesitation. “He had it all,” concluded Harry.
