GAA Club Preview - Your club This Weekend

FOOTBALL 

BOYLE 

The McGovern Directional Drilling team has a vital Intermediate Championship game in the Abbey Park on this Friday at 7.30 when they meet Fuerty. All club officials are asked to be present at 6.30 for stewarding duties and all supporters are asked to come along and lend vocal support. The club is holding a draw for valuable prizes including two All-Ireland Senior Football Final tickets which will include overnight accommodation in Dublin for two. Other prizes include a weekend break in a Lynch Hotel, 4 green fees in Glasson Golf and Country Club and a dinner voucher. Tickets are available from all club officers. Sympathy is extended to Ollie Kelly, Ballyleague on the death of his father.


CASTLEREA ST KEVINS

Senior team play Elphin in the championship in Elphin at the weekend The Junior A team may have a championship game versus St Josephs at the weekend.  The U-14 football final is down for decision during the week. Check with management at training and also local press for details of all fixtures hurling, ladies football adult and underage men’s football. Training for U-6, U-8, U-10 and U-11 boys and girls continues in O’Rourke Park on Monday evenings at 6.30 pm. Ladies U-14 training continues on Mondays at 7.30 pm. Training for U-10 and U-12 hurlers continues on Wednesdays at 6.30 pm. A full turnout of all wishing to be on the panels is requested. Bingo in the O’Rourke Centre on Friday at 9 pm. 


ELPHIN 

On Saturday 15th August Orchard Park will be hosting Elphin v Castlerea the in 2009 senior championship. In staging this event the club will be asking for stewards, etc. to help with the smooth running of the day. Training for minors is on Friday at 7 pm.


KILMORE

Our Kalzen sponsored senior team face into their biggest weekend of the year when the play St Aidans in Ballyforan in a winner-takes-all clash in the senior championship. A win and we’re into the quarter-finals of the championship, defeat and…… well….. let’s not even think about that. The club would urge everybody in the parish to make the trip and to give the team as much support as possible. Please check fixtures for exact day and time but it is provisionally fixed for Saturday evening at 7 pm. The National Automation sponsored minor team are due to play their summer league final this week. Check fixtures for day and venue. U-12 training will take place on this Friday at the 7 pm at the pitch.


MICHAEL GLAVEY’S

The Intermediate team bowed out of the Championship when they were defeated by Shannon Gaels on  a scoreline of 3-7 to 0-15. They now face a relegation battle to stay in Intermediate for 2010. Well done to Sonny McNulty who played for Roscommon Minors in the All-Ireland quarter-final in Croke Park last Monday week. Congratulations to Helena Cummins and Lisa Walsh who won All-Ireland minor medals with Roscommon. Commiserations to Joanne Cregg and Ciara McDonnell on their defeat by Tipperary in the All-Ireland U-16 final. Under-14 girls play Ballinameen on Sunday at 7 pm in Ballinameen. Congratulations to Roscommon Junior mens team and management on reaching the All-Ireland final. The club wishes them the best of luck in the final against Cork. The club would also like to wish Eugene Stritch a speedy recovery from an injury sustained in training. The club extends its sincere sympathy to the Kelly family, Ballyleague.


PADRAIG PEARSES

The Junior footballers who take on St. Aidan’s in Pearses on Thursday night at 7.30 pm and then on Sunday Pearses play hosts to three Senior Hurling championship matches with our hurlers taking on Tremane at 1.30 pm. Please support. 


ROSCOMMON GAELS

Senior Hurling: The next round of the Senior Hurling Championship takes place at Woodmount on Sunday next. Roscommon Gaels play Four Roads at 2.45 pm and we hope we win this game. We offer sincere sympathy to the O’Brien family, Lisnamult on the death of Mrs. Angela O’Brien; the Kelly family, Cloontuskert on the death of their father and  the Healy family, Athleague on the death of Andy Healy.


ST BARRYS

Training for U-8’s and U-10’s continue each Friday evening at 6 pm.

All U-12’s mixed are asked to continue training as the Championship is due to begin on August 16th. The club extends sympathy to Lorraine Feeney, Cuuraghroe and Niall Dooner, Tooreen, Scramogue and the Dooner family, Lakeview, Kilglass on the recent death of Patrick Dooner.


ST BRIGIDS

Next Saturday evening St Brigid’s play Western Gaels, in a massive do-or-die battle in Kiltoom, at 5 pm. The reality for the lads is, it’s a must-win game. The very best of luck to the team and management and all support would be greatly appreciated for a bunch of lads who have given us a fantastic couple of years. So now it’s your chance to get out there and show your support.


ST DOMINICS

Golf Outing: Our next outing takes place this Saturday 15th August in Mounbellew. Scor: St. Dominic’s scor committee are very pleased with the progress to date for the forthcoming 40 years of Scor Celebration being held on Saturday 29th August in St. John’s Community Centre in Lecarrow. If anybody wishes to get involved to perform or help out on the night please don’t hesitate to get in touch. Tickets will be on sale this Friday in Murrays Bar from 8-9 pm or from any committee member. Senior Hurling: Traing continues  this week in preperation for the this weekend match against Oran. U-10 Football: Our U-10’s will compete in a blitz  this Saturday August 15th in Kiltoom at 10.30  am. St Dominic’s would like to offer sympathy to the McDermott and Byrne families on the death of Oliver and to the Colye family, Roscommon.


ST RONANS

The intermediate team plays St. Michaels in the championship on Saturday next in Cootehall at 7 pm. This is an eagerly-awaited clash between these North Roscommon rivals as the winners will qualify for the championship quarter-final.


TULSK 

The Ryan Courtdale sponsored intermediate team play Roscommon Gaels in the O’Gara Cup semi-final on Saturday evening at 7.30 pm in Tarmonbarry. The next Junior game will be in two weeks against St. Micheal’s.

  Tulsk Club would like to wish the County Camogie girls all the best in the All-Ireland on the 22nd August.


CAMOGIE 

ATHLEAGUE 

The club would like to extend its deepest sympathy to the Carty family from Oran on the occasion of the tragic death of their son Joey, R.I.P.


HURLING 

ORAN 

The next U-15  is against Four Roads. Next weekend Oran meet St. Dominics in the senior hurling championship. This is a game Oran must win if they want to remain in contention for a place in the semi-final. 


LADIES 

BOYLE 

Our U-14 Girls Championship commences next Sunday 16 August. Full details of the first game will be given at training. Training every Tuesday and Friday. Full attendance required. Boyle’s group include Oran, Kilmore, Western Gaels, Ballinameen Michael Glaveys, St. Dominics, Roscommon Gaels and Eire Og. Boyle Junior Ladies have no game this coming week. Their game v Western Gaels will possibly be played the week commencing 16 August.


KILBRIDE

Senior ladies: Training continues as normal for Senior Ladies during the week.


ST MARYS

Training continues for all U-14 on Thursday at 8 pm. Junior training takes place on Thursday evening. 


STROKESTOWN 

Club Meeting: There will be a club meeting this Thursday, the 13th at 9.30 pm in the Percy. All members please attend. Presentation Night: A presentation evening for the Junior team will take place this Friday the 14th of August.
