The HAC have warned that more people may die on the roads of the county on the way to Galway after it received the response times in connection with the death of a young woman in the region last winter.
The woman was involved in single-vehicle collision and it was three hours before she arrived at UCHG. The woman was pronounced dead before she reached the hospital.
John McDermott, Chairperson of the HAC said this week that the group had found out while the accident happened at 10 pm the ambulance did not reach UCHG until 12.57 am.
“The young woman died 13 minutes before the ambulance arrived at the hospital. It is heartbreaking for the woman’s family, and they do not want this to happen to anyone else” commented Mr McDermott.
