Castlerea Fianna Fail Councillor Paschal Fitzmaurice has welcomed the news that Castlerea Swimming Pool will open to the public from this Friday 15th June. The Pool will open for five days a week and will be closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.
“It’s not ideal that it is not open seven days a week, but it is a reasonable compromise and it is great news that the pool is opening this weekend. It is a fantastic facility and I hope that the people of the area support it.
“It is a 33 metre heated outdoor pool and there are very few 33 meter pools in the region, most are 25 meter pools. It is there for use by young and old and the amenities there have been improved over the years and we are hoping that we get some good weather and some great crowds too” he concluded.
