The fifth Glenamaddy District Ploughing & Agricultural Show took place on Sunday, October 7th and attracted large crowds and a broad mix of competitors and exhibitors. Neven Maguire’s live cookery demonstrations, and music from Ritchie Remo and The Kings of Connaught, were among the attractions in the impressive surrounds of the Glenamaddy Equestrian Centre.
Main sponsors of what was the fifth annual show were The Comer Group, with further sponsorship from Glenamaddy Credit Union and other local businesses.
In addition to the Pedigree and Commercial cattle show and the Ploughing Championship, attractions included an impressive multi-class Dog Show, a vibrant Children’s Art Competition with hundreds of entries from local national schools, top class catering, arts, crafts, local produce, vintage displays, outdoor machinery and other trade stands, and a busy bar.
Speaking at the event, Chairman Gerry Feeney thanked his fellow committee members for all their hard work in preparation for the show. He also praised the seventy volunteers that put so much effort into making the event a success. He thanked main sponsors, The Comer Group and all sponsors for their patronage and the Geraghty and Reilly families for the use of their superb facilities and land. Mr. Feeney also congratulated all the winners of the cattle show, ploughing, children’s art competition and jiving contest.
