Fine Gael Senator Maura Hopkins has said that the investment of €26 million in the Aurivo Dairy Ingredients plant in Ballaghaderreen is a major boost for the town and wider region.
The expansion is part of a €48 million investment plan announced by Aurivo in July 2018 which will take place over the next five years. It includes the dairy ingredients plant, new Homeland retail store openings in the northwest and safety and efficiency measures across its Livestock Marts business.
Senator Hopkins said: “It was important to have Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Michael Creed visit the site last Friday (July 26th) to view the world class facilities which have been constructed.
“This investment has increased production capacity at the facility by 50% and allows for improved efficiencies.
“Aurivo has a very important impact on Ballaghaderreen and the wider region. It is an important employer in the town. It also has a positive economic knock-on effect on other businesses and services in the area”.
Senator Hopkins concluded: “I compliment everyone involved in this development. A huge amount of planning, hard work and effort has clearly been invested in achieving this very successful outcome”.
