Milk intake down

Domestic milk intake by creameries and pasteurisers was estimated as 409.1 million litres for October 2007. This was 0.9 percent below the corresponding 2006 figure. Comparing the October 2007 milk produce figures with those for October 2006 shows that total milk sold for human consumption increased by 2.3 percent to 45.4 million litres. Butter production was down 1.9 percent to 10,300 tonnes.
